The University of St.Gallen (HSG) was founded in 1898 – the heyday of the St. Gallen textile industry – as an “Academy of Commerce, Transport and Administration” and began its lectures in 1899. Since its foundation, the education received at the HSG has been marked by its practical relevance and integrative viewpoint. Today, it is one of the leading schools of economics in Europe, and has received an international stamp of approval with EQUIS, AACSB and AMBA accreditation.

Since its inception, the Max Schmidheiny Foundation has been supporting the International Students' Committee (ISC) St. Gallen. The ISC is an independent student initiative at the University of St.Gallen, and the organizing body of the annual St. Gallen Symposium. Every year, the symposium creates a global platform for constructive dialogue on key issues in management, world politics, and the global civil society between current global leaders from business, politics, academia, and civil society, and brilliant young leaders of the next generation.

The elea Foundation for Ethics in Globalization exists to fight absolute poverty with entrepreneurial means, capitalizing on the benefits and opportunities of globalization. It supports entrepreneurial philanthropic projects benefitting the poor at the base of the economic pyramid. As foundations that are both grounded in principles of classical liberalism, the Max Schmidheiny Foundation and elea are pioneering an innovative partnership model, whereby members of the elea team are working on specific projects of the Max Schmidheiny Foundation on a mandate basis.

The «Schweizer Monat» is the monthly Swiss magazine on politics, economics and culture. Founded in 1921, it has a classical liberal profile and contributes to the public intellectual discussion. The Schweizer Monat is independent, critical, and committed to quality. Since 2010 it has been published by its own publishing house, the SMH Verlag AG, thereby guaranteeing the journalistic freedom that is indispensable for an idiosyncratic magazine.
