The Max Schmidheiny Foundation currently places a special emphasis on the umbrella topic „Switzerland 2030 – The Future of Freedom“ throughout its activities. It supports academic research and debate on fundamental issues of a free economic and social order at the University of St.Gallen. Promoting dialogue at the interfaces between business, politics and society is a key tenet of its mission, as exemplified by the fora of the Max Schmidheiny Foundation held in Bad Ragaz. As an independent institution, the Foundation draws on a broad international network, and is grounded in the tradition of the Max Schmidheiny Freedom Prize (awarded from 1979 to 2003).
Focal topic “Switzerland 2030 – The Future of Freedom”
The focal topic “Switzerland 2030 – The Future of Freedom” will form a common thread of the activities of the Max Schmidheiny Foundation in the coming years. In light of a series of overlapping and mutually re-inforcing processes of fundamental change in the economic, political, and societal environment – global currents of re-ideologization, disruptive technological change, and a new geopolitical uncertainty, to name but the most salient tendencies – the Foundation aims at strengthening the foundations of a free social order.
